How to add “Dofollow” tag to links in comments ( WordPress only)
I recieved a comment, requesting a post about how to add the “dofollow” tag to comments in wordpress, and here it is:
It’s really simple actually, to remove the “nofollow” tag from links in comments in wordpress.
All you need to do, is installing a plugin called “Dofollow” from THIS website.
Then all you need to do, is to follow the instructions and activate the plugin =)
In case you want to know why you should do this, listen up:
- So-called “Backlinks” to websites counts as “votes” for a website for the search engines. So having loads of links back to your website, boosts your rankings in various search engines. This is called “off-page” SEO, and is essential for your website to rank well.
- To maximize the effect of each link, you should make sure they are as relevant as possible. As an example, a link from a “spa” website, to your “dog training” website, will have an extremely low value to the search engines – unless it’s from a page on the site about “spa for dogs”. In addition to this, you should make your links into “ancor text” for keywords you want to rank higher on.
Anchor text is basicly a word, disguised as a link, and looks like the link called “this” above, which directs you to the “dofollow” plugin website. That means I helped them to rank on the word “this” in the search engines. Oh my how nice of me! I’ll help them furthermore by adding a link called “dofollow plugin” – Which actually helps them, because they most likely want to rank for that keyword.
There are also many other factors that plays a great role in the category “linkbuilding”, but I will cover them later. For now, just focus on what you have read now.

Not really.
I get a few spam comments every day, but aksimet fetches them all.
And I also approve most comments if they are not automated.
It’s just a way to motivate people to comment, and participate =)
Too bad it haven’t been so many post requests yet though, as I’m sure there are a lot of people who would like a few product to get reviewed, or would like to get free info about something.

Almost at the end of your post where you explained the relevance issue of links and anchors, I decided not to use any keyword. Anyways, We can’t survive without such attributes and they must be used to make our users permanent and loyal .

Why was the nofollow tag ever created? With social on the rise, likes and followers are evolving around nofollows.

Have you found an increase in the traffic to your site since installing the plugin, or doesn’t it haven any benefits in terms of getting more visitors.

Well, there are obviously several automated comment softwares using search strings in google that includes dofollow, so I get more spam. But some people are also searching for it manually, and it gets me a few extra visitors.
And I also like rewarding the people that actually do comment, as it keeps the blog more alive.
