IMPORTANT! If you want to dominate search engines with web 2.0!
There are many ways to dominate the search engines these days, as well as many different software and programs to do this using web 2.0 sites.
In this post, I just want to post a few really important tips you should know, before choosing your way of using web 2.0.
My number *1* tip here is this:
Make every social bookmarking submission at least 30% different from the rest!
I hope you got that. It’s really the best tip if you want to have several social bookmarks on the first pages of google and others. Not neccesarily worth it if you have a post that’s going to get bookmarked by many others, or dugg or anything similar, but this is for search engines.
The reason? – Search engine dupe filters.
They will not show duplicate content in searches, as well as backlinks will not count.
So remember this when choosing a social submitter.
This is also why article submitters doesn’t work. – Unless they have a spinner implemented, that allows you to check the uniqueness of the article.
The same rule applies to all content online. So if you’re submitting articles, social bookmarks, video’s etc. Make sure you vary the description.
Here we also have a great advantage of submitting your RSS feed to rss feed sites. – Simply because they usually don’t have a description.
Make sure you optimize for a keyword though, even if you’re spinning you should have your long-tail keyword optimized, by NOT spinning it.
If you’re submitting manually to social bookmarking sites, I would recommend starting with digg.com, as they are quite strict on duplicate content.
Then I’d say propeller and furl. Digg is most important though, as the others usually rank high as well.
For doing all of this spins and submissions, I’d recommend using SeNuke, as stated earlier.
Results are coming now, although not a big rise in traffic, but that’s because of the ever-competetive internet marketing niche.
I’ll post real results when I try it in another niche, so keep in touch!

P.S. A list of rss feed submission sites, as well as social bookmarking sites are coming up soon!

Preben,
This is a really awesome post. I didn’t know that backlinks are discounted when there are duplicate submissions, but I guess that really makes sense when you think about it.
Thanks for sharing. I learnt some important information here.

Everything about google makes sense once you understand it =)
Btw, this is also one of the reasons I rarely use onlywire. – Since only one of the submissions will show up in the search engines.
It might work well for extremely viral content though, and I would not recommend spinning and submitting with if it’s extremely viral. Unless you are GREAT at spinning though.
Manual submission will do better that way in my opinion.

Digg has added recently nofollow on most of the external links so many people, who were submitting news just for the backlinks, will move somewhere else. I wonder what Digg will do in a few months..

Well, you will still get linkjuice from them, so it’s worth a shot ;o)
Not only that, but social bookmarking results etc. rank well in the search engines by themself.

Yeah article spinning is necessary, I don’t use any software for that but I do agree that to avoid duplicate content you need to shuffle the article and do some here and there.
Just wondering whether Social Bookmarks really work? I’ve heard that before just targeting your own link, bookmark some other links as well otherwise you may get penalized etc.

You won’t get penalized by search engines this way, but it might happen in some very few social bookmarking services.
As for spinning, it’s completely necessary if you want to get credit in the search engines for all of the links, as well as they will show up in the search engines more often if they are more than 30% unique to each other.
As for social bookmarks, many of them are nofollow these days… BUT, the “bookmark” itself often ranks well in the search engines. At least short-term and for less competitive search phrases. I’d still keep it in my marketing arsenal if I was you.
But if you REALLY want them to be useful, write a viral blogpost or article, and you might get lucky enough to get on the first page of digg or anything similar. It’s hard though. I’ll tell you that ;o)
I know “X things that show’s you’re an x” tend to have success with this.

Thank you =)
I rarely use onlywire as well. If I’m going for a massive social bookmark submission, I always spin them to be at least 30% unique to each other, so I’ll get credit for all of the links, as well as all of them will show up in the search engines. – Which can be really effective for total domination of a less-competitive keyword phrase. It requires some spinnings skills to be effective enough though, but you’ll learn that after some testing =)
Thanks for your comment mate!

Thanks for the SEO tips. As a web designer, one can’t get enough of those

Even though this post is a little old, the info still holds true. Being a little different is a must for search engine pickup.
Are you going to be doing any new posts on this blog?
July 13th, 2010 at 11:32 pm
I might. Especially after this post =)
Perhaps a post about… mobile marketing? ;o)
I haven’t blogged in a looong time, as my IM “career” have taken quite a turn, and I’m going more and more offline. But I still hang out in the Warriorforum to keep up to date.
Feel free to bring requests about what you want me to blog about, and I’ll dig into it.
I’ll also see if I can come up with something quick, effective and actionable, as those are the kind of blog posts I like to read myself, and to write. Perhaps about how to get ranked well in Google maps? I’m going to learn a bit more about it, and apply it to my own business.
Thanks for your comment, and keep checking back.
