This article is an interesting thought. I work with clients everyday and they have years of well established offline relationships. They are getting beat out online by college companies because they know how to represent themselves online. I do see the opportunity with marketing for offline clients. But there is also a big opportunity for those need to transition their offline presence to online.

Great points. If you ask them to email you, that is a recipe for never hearing from them. I know when I get those requests, I can easily forget to email back.

Sure thing, offline and online marketing are 2 way different things.
In online marketing, you'll usually never need to speak to your clients face-to-face or on the phone, but in offline you'll need at least one of them. BUT even though you'll need way more courage to work offline, the rewards are usually greater. At least short term.
However, there are pros and cons with both of them, so stick with what you're most comfortable with. I'd say it's easier to create a passive income if you work online, but it takes way more build a sustainable amount.

Online venture is somehow different with offline marketing. In offline marketing, you really need to fully equip yourself to encourage clients to deal with you. It's a matter of convincing them within a short span of time. Very unlikely when you're doing online marketing. You can plan, make research while you're starting to market your product or service.
