Regarding registering a domain early… I like to do this too. But as soon as I have registered my domain I will install Wordpress or just put up a static HTML page with a keyword-focused article. I will then build just a few links to it. Then I can actually get on with creating all the proper content etc. knowing that by the time I actually get to launch the proper site it will almost certainly already be listed in Google.
